Graduating To The Unknown: Combating Anxiety With Faith

Psalm 139:23-24, Philippians 4:6-9 ,

Matthew 6:24-34

Doing well in life requires being focused about the “now”.  Like all things that involve concentration, our minds really have only the ability to do one thing at a time well.

If you are going to play a competitive sport, drive a car, or take a major exam, the less you have on your mind other than the task at hand the better it will be for you to do well.

When we stop focusing fully on our Lord spiritually we start to do less than our best.  The ancient monks tried to only have prayer, meditaion, fasting, worship, and the study of Scripture virtually non-stop.  However, living such a lifestyle means their interaction with the world was forgotten, which means they could hardly spread their Godly condition to anyone else.  Jesus went out among the people spreading the “Good News” so we know a monk’s seclusion compromised them on their doing the same.

If when we are focusing on God and have complete faith that God is there with us in all we do then there is no reason to doubt or become anxious.  God is there.  Totally.

When we forget God or neglect our striving to have the character of Christ (having integrity or telling the truth, being unselfish, humble, etc.) we begin to compromise our distance to God.  As this happens, the more and more anxious we will be come and fear will begin to control us.

Therefore, when anxious, pray.  Take time in your day to focus solely on God.   His peace will be with you everywhere and you will do great things for the Lord.  Your faith will set you free through Him.
