God’s Prime Directive
Romans 10:8:15, 20
If you say that God is most important in your life don’t you think you need to know what is most important to God?
The Bible tells about two sets of ancient history that co-exist at the same time. In short, the Scriptures explains that there are people who believe in their heart and follow God and another group who never really believed (were either half-hearted or completely rejected believing in Him) and rebelled against God’s commands.
History repeats itself.
Today people are the same as they were in Bible times. Some fully believe that Christ died and was raised to be our salvation for all time. Others either completely or partially reject this fact (to God those who partially believe are the same as those who reject the death of His Son).
So if you believe with all your heart then what is the most important command for you to do? Beyond the spirit of love to others we must share our faith. Through our faith we received the greatest gift ever from God of eternal life through the full forgiveness of our sins. God now wants us to help Him give that great gift to others by sharing our faith with those who currently do not believe.
So how do we share our faith with other people? Romans 10 answers this question and others :
1) Tell others with your own mouth that Jesus is your Lord (v. 9), that He was raised from the dead and, that if they believe this, they will be saved, too. By telling others this great understanding then the believer confirms their faith and salvation (v. 10) while giving our greatest gift to others freely.
2) How do we help others to believe? You can’t. However, you can do your best to share this Good News. If you never share your faith they won’t know for sure (v. 15). Pray for those you share your faith with, also.
3) Do not look at other people and say to yourself “they will never believe so why should I bother to tell them?” Many will believe that weren’t even looking for Him (v. 20).
4) Do not worry about what others may think of you for sharing the Gospel. Rather think about what God will think about you if you share His love with others.
