Easter Celebration 2011

A special Easter Sunday celebration where we will partake in a meal similar to the one Jesus and the apostles shared during Passover, now known as the Last Supper.

The meal will include lamb, figs, dates, deviled eggs (ok Jesus didn’t have that but our church loves ‘em), non alcoholic special beverages.

Special thanks to Drew Coker, our specialist in dietary cuisine matters, who gave us the inspiration.

Communion will take place after the meal, as Jesus shared with his disciples before His death on the cross.

The True Meaning of Easter

Matthew 27:27-56, 28:1-20, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Secular society has been celebrating spring for centuries before Easter became a Christian holiday. Eggs (which celebrated the “birth” or “rebirth” of the earth) and bunnies (which represented fertility) began celebrations and wild parties that ushered in the warmth of the sun and the death of the very cold winters.

Easter, as a Christian holiday, celebrates the death, resurrection, and the future return of Jesus here on Earth.

Jesus harmed no one, did not threaten to lead a revolt to the rulers of the day, and did not gather wealth to Himself. Rather, He preached a doctrine of love, forgiveness, charity to others, and many other wonderful values.
